Speaking about his performance, Mukherjee told IBNS: "It's always a pleasure to perform in Delhi. Music connoisseurs add a special dimension to live performances and the prestigious Sriram Centre was no different. The concert with the great Utsad Kamal Sabri made it a memorable performance and specially after winning a GIMA Award this was my first full concert and that too a classical one. A classical concert is a true test of a musician and I love to perform in classical concerts."
"I feel that Classical concerts are like 5 day test matches and tests the quality, perfection and artistry of a musician. The legacy and heritage of Indian music lies in Indian classical music and I am proud to be a torch bearer of the great tradition and this is where our true test as a musician lies," the percussionist added.
Mukherjee had won the Best Album Award recently at the GIMA Awards for his collaborative album Moods, along with Vishwamohan Bhatt, and believes it was a result of a great collaborative work.
"GIMA Awards was a result of a great collaborative effort with the legend Padmashree Pdt Vishwamohan Bhatt. When I formed the Rhythmexpress band I had decided to explore, experiment new forms of sound and I also changed the very look of my persona and style to adapt to the demands of a fusion band. I must admit I was greatly inspired by my friend Subhojit Roy, infact he gave me the idea of the band, our looks on stage and stylisation," he said.
Mukherjee stated that the appreciation his new album garnered will help him to progress as a musician.
He said, "From there to the stage at the GIMA Awards being appreciated by icons like Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and the rest of the Bollywood brigade has been a dream and I want this dream to last forever as I plan to come back with newer creations and sounds next year."
