Kolkata: It was an evening of razzmatazz at The Westin Rajarhat this August where a chunk of the City of Joy's rich and famous gathered to celebrate the bespoke wedding collections of a celebrated fashion designer. And Anita Dongre did not disappoint.
As the models scorched the ramp in resplendent wedding collections of Dongre, gracefully walking to the chants of a powerful Rajasthani folk singer rendering haveli sangeet, the mood was perfect for admiring every ensemble in the collection inspired by Rajasthan’s rich heritage and symbolizing a love story in itself.
Her works are a fusion of Indian aesthetics and contemporary sensibilities in a bridal wear that are meant for an occasion in which two people exchange the vows to spend a lifetime together.
Shaadi by Marriott, a one-of-a-kind customized wedding campaign, is already an established success story staged by Marriott International Inc., the largest hospitality chain in the world.

The impetus, since the first edition held at New Delhi in 2017, has been to create a niche, holistic bridal experience that is unmatched and memorable right from its conception to its execution, said the organisers.
The second edition on Aug 10 was hosted at The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat along with JW Marriott Kolkata.
Kolkatans wowed as the models walked the ramp in Dongre's gorgeous wedding collections.

The focus since the past two years has been to weave and personalize a fairytale wedding soiree, starting with the perfect venue and décor to great food and hospitality. Whether it’s the much sought-after ‘Big Fat IndianWedding’ or an intimate affair, the objective of this niche initiative has been to provide the wedded couple and their families with the best in class service, all under one roof, said The Westin.
The highlight of the evening was a power-packed fashion sequence by Dongre, displaying her Festive Winter 2019 collection titled ‘Jaipur Love’. Dongre’s bridal collection was an amalgamation of heritage and brilliant craftsmanship.
Rahul Maini, General Manager, Westin Kolkata Rajarhat, said, “It is a great honor to associate with a leading fashion designer such as Anita Dongre for Shaadi by Marriott. We are elated to host the second edition of this cult concept in Eastern India which is emerging as an attractive destination for marriages and lending itself to premium weddings and events."

"Through this initiative, we were privileged to showcase our property as one of the leading venues for marriages in this part of the world. It is our brand’s promise to deliver exceptional experiences and unforgettable memories. Whatever be the magnitude of the nuptial celebrations, we go the extra mile to ensure our guests experience the very best as a
build up to their special day,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Dongre said: “ 'Jaipur Love’ is a celebration of togetherness, filled with the vibrant colours of revelry. Inspired by my long-lasting love affair with the city of Jaipur, the collection borrows from its exquisite architecture and is embellished with age old crafts such as gotapatti, zari, zardozi, and cut dana embroidery. These influences also translate to the colour palette, which features the beautiful Jaipur Pink, Vivid Violet and Berry Sorbet. "

In addition to the stunning fashion ensemble, the audience was especially appreciative of the themed décor typical of opulent shaadis in the country and the blissful Haveli Sangeet feel that was created with live folk musicians.
In a bid to cater to the evolved palette of today, the avant-garde lavish spread featured the best of world cuisine comprising Asian, European and Indian flavors.
The cutting-edge culinary team of experts at The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat impressed one and all by adding a personal touch to every appetizer, main course and dessert that was on display.
