Chicago: Manish Mallick, owner of Bar Goa in Chicago’s River North neighborhood and ROOH Chicago in the West Loop, has been conferred the Pride of India Award at this year’s World at the Global Eye G.S.A India 75 Expo.
Mallick is among 75 outstanding Indians who were honored with the Pride of India award during this year’s summit at Sheraton Lisle Naperville Hotel in December.
Mallick is being recognized for his inclusive leadership and dedicated work in empowering the people of Chicago’s hospitality industry.
“I’m blown away to be recognized for the Pride of India award. My goal has always been to elevate the Indian dining experience in Chicago through progressive, artfully vibrant and fun concepts, and it means the world to me that what we’ve created with Bar Goa and ROOH Chicago have been recognized,” said Mallick.
An awards jury through G.S.A India has specially selected Mallick for this year’s recognition, notably recognizing his impactful work in the local community and the culinary industry as a whole.
On top of groundbreaking culinary concepts and leadership, Mallick ensured all communities and frontline heroes-in-need were served hundreds of fresh and delicious meals on a daily basis during the COVID pandemic.
During the pandemic he personally delivered meals to various locations across the Chicago metro area including Englewood Montessori, YWCA, Northwestern Hospitals, AMITA Hospitals and Hungry Hood among others. G.S.A India showcases India’s transformation in growth and development as one of the top global economies since its independence in 1947 to the present.
This year’s landmark expo featured ancient India and Prime Minister Modi's New India on a single platform through a vibrant trade show, meaningful daily workshops and informative plenary sessions on the investment opportunities in the states of India and a rich cultural extravaganza.
Bar Goa, owned and operated by the husband and wife team Manish and Rina Mallick, is a clubby Indian Gastropub and cocktail bar that brings River North and Time Out Market the flavors and vibes of India’s sunny southwest coast of Goa. The food at Bar Goa is a marriage between the historic Indian and Portuguese cultures of Goa along with traditional Indian classics.
ROOH owned by them is located at the edge of the crowded dining strip of West Randolph in Chicago’s West Loop. ROOH's menu draws inspiration from all of India’s 31 diverse states, which encompass hundreds of languages and regional cuisines.
