IIPK is a school dedicated to provide specialised training on commercial photography.
“There are so many e-commerce websites now. The display of products through photographs plays a very important role for any e-commerce sites. These days even wedding photography has also changed there have been many variations these days. With all this photography has emerged out to be a viable career option," Ghosh said.
“The basic thing that the faculty of our institute does is to tech our students how to capture a photograph and do something in a commercial manner. We in IIPK try to groom our students according to the needs of the market so that once they get into the professional world they can deliver according to the needs of their client,” said the dean
IIPK offers two specialised diploma course on photography- advanced diploma program in commercial photography (Full time), a twelve months course for regular students and a diploma program in photographic techniques a ten months course mainly working professionals.
“This is the fourth year of our institution and in the past four years we have produced some of the finest talents in the field of commercial photography. Presently we are offering two courses, a regular twelve month course and a ten month weekend program on Saturdays and Sundays. The weekend batch is mostly comprises of working professionals who are interested to know more about this subject. We have mainly designed it for working professionals,” said Anindita Chatterjee, Chief Operating Officer, and IIPK.
The institute has forty seats for the regular diploma program and forty for the weekend batch in total. The course fee is 1, 92,000 which can be paid in six installments, the course fee of the weekend program is 72,000 which can also be paid in six installments.
“We have some of the most reputed personalities in this field as the faculty members of our institute. Last year Raghu Rai was also here to attend a workshop with our students. We also have international mentors like Bryan Peterson and Bollywoods leading fashion photographer Subi Samuel as guest mentors of our institution,” Chaterjee added.
Discussing about the placement opportunities provided by IIPK, Chaterjee said, “We do provide our students with placement assistance. Many of our students got placed in e-commerce websites, news organisations and even in Nat Geo. We also organise outdoor shoots, live projects, our students on a regular basis exhibits their photographs in exhibitions organised by IIPK. From the next session we are also planning to for an expansion, we are planning to ad videography in our course so that our students are able to everything for their client. As the days are changing companies hire creative professionals instead of going to advertising agencies. Our students after passing out from IIPK can present a complete package to their clients.”
The institute has its own modernised studio with advanced lighting equipments and related accessories.
“Apart from regular practical classes our students can hire our studio for commercial purpose at minimal rent,” said Sanat Ghosh.
The students of IIPK is organising a photography exhibition from the 13th to 19th December at the Academy of Fine Arts.
