Author interview: Nayantee Baroowa believes his first novel will evince the interest of today's youth

With readers responding well to his first novel, 'Way to the Golden Sun', author Nayantee Baroowa says he is already writing his second novel.

Congratulations on the release of 'Way to the Golden Sun'?

Thank you very much. It's a dream come true. The project took me more than two years to complete, and now I feel relieved to see my book in my own hands.

How many books have you written so far?

This is my first book; it's a product of my imagination and also my real life experiences. However, I have started writing my second book, still untitled, but I clearly know what to write. Unlike my first novel, which aimed at evincing the interest of youths, this novel will be a long journey of a female protagonist - her troubles and the life mysteries she solves.

What does the book deal with?

'Way to the Golden Sun' deals with a fictitious life situation but which could also be real. It deals with a hypothetical world - filled with constructive ideas and humane nature of the present day youth. It's an epitome of love and affection; where in this fast moving world, humans have become so selfish, the novel tells us that a little attention towards society will lessen many pains and make the world a beautiful place to live in.

What, according to you, do readers really look for in new-age fiction?

It really depends actually; readers like and pick different genres of writings. It's up to the writer to believe what he or she likes to write about. Young readers will prefer novels having themes related to college life, love and romance. Others may prefer a little mature novels - ones having philosophical or historical themes. Still others may prefer novels with normal themes - ones related to household and daily activities.

However, I believe that a writer should not shy away from writing about some thrilling and intimate moment. Whatsoever genres writers pick, such moments become the central focus of attention and most readers find the novels interesting because they can relish the moments and enjoy the imagination of the writers.

How has been the journey so far as an author?

Well, the journey has been really great so far. I got positive reviews for my first novel. A couple of reviews were published in the print and online media. I got an opportunity to write articles for regional English newspapers, which I think is a great achievement as a writer. And the sales have been satisfactory till today, and so I am happy with the progress.
