Kolkata, Dec 10 (NITN) Rotary International President elect John Germ from USA visited Kolkata for two days when he inaugurated the e learning project of Rotary India Literacy Mission ( RILM) worth Rs 1 crore at a program at the GD Birla Sabhaghar.

This was part of a National Education Program adopted by Rotarians across India to achieve hundred percent literacy in India.

250 e-learning centres are to be set up as part of this project in rural and urban India for the underprivileged students.

This program aims to improve the quality of students education through the use of high quality curriculum based e learning ( a/v) modules in local languages, expected to enhance knowledge absorption and abilities of children.

RILM distributed 15 e-learning kits to 15 representatives from schools from West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand.

A unique Bloodline app was also launched on the occasion. This is expected to bridge the gap between donor and recipient and bring a relief.

The following day as part of Rotary's ONE MISSION campaign for setting up 100 libraries was launched at Rotary Sadan.

John Germ's visit ended with a visit to Binodini Girls School for Wash In Schools project ( WINS)  planting of saplings at the Rotary Peace Park, adjacent to Victoria Memorial and a visit to Rotary Eye Hospital at Beliaghata.
