CBSE has made Aadhaar card mandatory to apply for JEE Main. The online application process for JEE Main 2018 started from December 01, 2017 and students can apply till January 1, 2018. JEE Main is scheduled on April 08, 2018 in offline and on April 15 and 16, 2018 for online mode.
Candidates should fill JEE Main application form carefully in order to avoid making any silly errors. CBSE has also stated that the particulars filled by candidates in the application form must match with the details in Aadhaar.
Aadhaar Card Made a Mandatory Document for Applying to JEE Main 2018
As per the official notification released by CBSE, candidates applying for JEE Main 2018 musr possess an Aadhaar card. JEE Main 2018 applications without Aadhaar card number mentioned on it are subject to rejection.
Note that the candidates from Assam, Jammu & Kashmir and Meghalaya are excluded from this requirement, only if they opt to get the examination center in their states. In such a case, it is fine for them to provide with bank account number, ration card number, passport number or any other valid identity number issued by the government of India or state.
Candidates who do not possess an Aadhar Card can apply for the same at the facilitation centers established in each city where JEE Main is to be held. These candidates can then apply for JEE Main 2018 by entering the 14-digit Aadhar Enrolment Id allotted to them while applying for Aadhar Card.
Candidates can check the list of these enrollment centers at the official website of UIDAI. The candidates will then have to produce their Aadhaar card during the counselling application. Also, ensure that all the details mentioned on Aadhaar card are absolutely correct.
In case some information is outdated or incorrect, get the same corrected at the earliest by visiting the nearest Aadhaar card enrollment center. You must check multiple times that the 14-digit Aadhaar card number that you enter in the application form is absolutely correct.
Other Important Instructions for Filling JEE Main Application Form
Candidates must fill JEE Main application form very carefully and ensure that all the information mentioned is complete and correct by all means.
The most important task for you is to read the information brochure very carefully. JEE offers the application form to be filled only through the online mode at JEE Main official website. No offline applications will be accepted.
Before filling the application form, candidates must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria for both, JEE Main and Advanced. To apply for JEE Main 2018, candidates must be born on or after October 1, 1993.
The maximum number of attempts for JEE Main is limited to three. Additionally, you must have qualified in class 12th in 2016/2017 or appeared for the same in 2018.
You must ensure that you are providing your personal and live e-mail Id and mobile number in the application form as any required important communication will be sent to you through these only.
Then upload the scanned images of your signature and the thumb impression along with academic and personal details in the format prescribed in the application brochure only.
Ensure that you upload your recent passport size photo in the recommended size (in the JPEG format). You will be able to book an exam date and time slot while filling the JEE Main 2018 online application form.
The slot booking feature allows you to select the date and time only for the online mode of exam and for the B.E./B.Tech. courses. It means that this feature will allow you to choose the examination date as either April 15 or April 16 along with the time slot, only when you like to appear it in the online mode.
The slot of your choice will be booked only on the first come first serve basis. It means that you will be able to book an available time slot on the choice of your date only if those are not filled yet.
The facility for the applicants to book the online exam slot has been introduced this year only. Earlier this choice was made by CBSE on random and availability basis.
You can pay the application fee either by credit card, debit card or through e-challan generated while filling the online application form. In case of e-challan, the payment needs to be made only at the Syndicate, Canara and ICICI banks in cash.
Cash paid through the e-challan at any other bank would not be accepted as application fee. The fee submitted by any other mode (like demand draft etc.) will also be rejected.
After filling and submitting all the particulars and payment of applicable application fee, an acknowledgment page with a unique application number will be displayed on the screen. Take a print out of this acknowledgment page as it may serve as a reference slip for any related use in future.
You may use this application number for viewing your application status at the JEE Main website. You are advised to keep checking the notifications in the online information bulletin posted on the official website of JEE Main 2018.
The admit card for JEE Main 2018 will be released on the JEE Main official website in March 2018. The admit card will contain various details related to the exam such as examination center, candidate’s roll number and exam schedule.
Ensure that you have the Aadhaar card handy with you along with other mandatory documents while starting filling JEE Main online application form. Prepare well for JEE Main 2018. All the best!
