New Delhi/NITN: India has pushed back the scheduled date to restart regular international flights, according to reports.

Omicron has been identified as a Variant of Concern (VOC) by the World Health Organisation.

India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has said that it will announce new dates after assessing the situation.

In a circular dated December 1, the DGCA said that ‘in view of the evolving global scenario with the emergence of new Variants of Concern, the situation is being watched closely in consultation with all stakeholders and an appropriate decision indicating the effective date of resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services shall be notified in due course’.

However, international flights under the air bubble agreements will not be affected.
