Chennai/NITN: If you were planning to have a beach holiday in Tamil Nadu on December 31 and January 1, it is likely that you will have to defer your plans.
Marina Beach in Chennai is one of the most popular beaches in the country where revellers gather to ring out the old year and ring in the new.
The Tamil Nadu government has decided to ban entry to the beaches in the state on both days, according to media reports.
Reports said that the decision was taken as a precaution in view of the ongoing pandemic situation and the spread of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.
The decision was taken after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin reviewed the latest situation in the state.
