With Indians constituting nearly 30 percent of tourists to Sentosa in Singapore, the island resort off the southern coast is wooing tourists with more attractions on its golden jubilee year.
"This year is the golden jubilee of Sentosa. We have 50 new experiences on offer. It is affordable for families," Kwee Eng Thien , CEO of Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC), told IBNS on the sidelines of SATTE (South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange) 2022 in Greater Noida.
Besides attractions like Universal Studios Singapore, which is a theme park located within the Resorts World Sentosa featuring 25 rides, shows, and attractions in six themed zones, there are many new attractions, said Ms. Thien.
"Sentosa has a refreshing environment and Indians love to spend two to three nights there. After all of the 15.2 million travellers to Sentosa, about 20 to 30 percent are Indians. India is our largest market," she said.
She said Singapore is connected to nearly 15 Indian cities already.
SDC is one of the partners of Singapore Tourism Board (STB) India’s “Enjoy Your Family Times Now in Singapore” in which various attractions on Sentosa are offering 50% off admission fees for children under 12 years old.
Sentosa with its pristine beaches, exciting attractions and tropical landscapes, is a magnet for tourists.
Before it was known as Sentosa, this island just off Singapore’s southern coast was a British military fortress. In 1972, the island was renamed “Sentosa” by the Singapore Government, which means “peace and tranquility” in Malay.

Sentosa in the past decades has transformed into a beloved island resort offering adrenaline rush as well as a day of relaxing in the sun.
Three beaches span Sentosa’s coastline. Each beach holds its own unique charm: Siloso Beach is the island’s most bustling stretch, and home to various restaurants and attractions; Palawan Beach’s beach and lagoon are perfect for families, and Tanjong Beach is ideal for a tranquil getaway.
Nature lovers are attracted to the Sentosa Nature Discovery. This nature trail begins at an interactive gallery—where visitors will get the chance to brush up on their skills of scientific enquiry—followed by a showcase of Sentosa’s teeming wildlife and heritage trees native to Singapore and Southeast Asia.
S.E.A. Aquarium on Sentosa is one of the largest oceanariums on the planet, and it is home to more than 100,000 marine animals, allowing for up-close encounters with fascinating creatures from the deep.
Meanwhile, located on Siloso Beach is iFly Singapore, the world’s largest wind tunnel for indoor skydiving. The 18-foot-tall acrylic ‘glass walls’—allow you to enjoy panoramic views of the South China Sea and Siloso Beach.
