One of the world’s biggest electronic dance music festivals is making a historic move to Asia. This December, Tomorrowland will host its first-ever full-scale Asian edition, with Thailand chosen as the destination for the EDM event, BBC reported.

The festival will take place from Dec 11 to 13 in Pattaya, the famous beach town that is fast growing as an entertainment and events hub. With an expected daily crowd of over 50,000, the Thailand edition is shaping up to match the grandeur and scale of Tomorrowland’s legendary Belgian event.

Why Thailand Was Chosen

According to Tomorrowland, Thailand stood out for its growing presence on the global music scene, and its focus on innovation and experience-led tourism. The country has emerged as a key destination for international live entertainment, making it a natural choice for Tomorrowland’s Asian debut.

Elaborate fantasy-style stages, packed DJ line-ups, and immersive themes set the tone for the festival’s high-energy atmosphere. Thailand has also signed a five-year agreement with Tomorrowland to host the festival, a move that is expected to generate 21 billion baht ($400) over the period, media reports said.

From a Belgian Dream to a Global Phenomenon

Tomorrowland was founded 20 years ago by Belgian brothers Manu and Michiel Beers. What began as a local festival has grown into one of the most recognisable names in electronic dance music.

Its annual event in Belgium is known for its elaborate fantasy-style stages, top-tier DJ line-ups, wild parties, and immersive storytelling themes. Music fans from around the world plan trips months in advance just to be a part of the experience.

While Tomorrowland has previously hosted smaller events and spin-offs in parts of Asia, this marks the first complete Tomorrowland festival, matching the scale of its Belgian edition.

Tomorrowland’s leadership has described the Asia expansion as more than just a one-off event.

"Expanding Tomorrowland to a new continent is a milestone we approach with great respect and excitement... This is the beginning of a long-term story," said Tomorrowland's chief executive officer Bruno Vanwelsenaers.

Tickets and Dates

Ticket pre-registration opens on 8 January. A three-day “Full Madness Pass” is priced at 12,500 baht, while single-day tickets will cost 5,100 baht.

Details about the festival theme and artist line-up have not yet been announced, but organisers have confirmed that more information will be released in the coming months.

Thailand’s Rise as a Festival Destination

In recent years, Thailand has strengthened its reputation as a live music destination. The country has hosted major international festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival and Creamfields, while Bangkok was also a stop on K-pop band Blackpink’s world tour last year.

Thailand’s own Wonderfruit festival has also gained international attention, attracting tens of thousands of visitors annually with its blend of music, art, and sustainability-focused experiences.
