Jordan Tourism is wooing Indian tourists saying "you, too, can have your own Bollywood style romance with a honeymoon or a destination wedding in the beautiful surroundings of Petra, Dead Sea, Wadi Rum and Aqaba in Jordan."
Petra is known as the ‘Rose Red City’ and is situated less than a 2 hour drive to the north of Aqaba along the desert highway is one of the most stark and compelling sites in the Middle East. The site is filled mountain ranges that change colour according to the sun’s position in the sky.
Petra is also one of the new Seven Wonders of the World! The city is surrounded by the sandstone cliffs and is filled with awe-inspiring, ancient stone monuments and buildings created over 2000 years ago.
The Petra site can only be accessed by foot, horse-back or cart and it’s an experience in itself to walk through the narrow ‘siq’ or canyon that leads to the Khazaneh (Treasury).
At 410m below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth. Jordan’s Dead Sea coast is one of the most spectacular natural and spiritual landscapes in the world, and is the favoured spots for couples who are drawn to its warm, salty water, mineral-rich mud and luxurious and relaxing spa facilities.
The salt content of the Dead Sea is 31.5% making the water so buoyant that it is impossible for the visitor to sink. The water also contains 21 minerals including high levels of magnesium, sodium, potassium, and bromine and 12 of these minerals are found in no other body of water in the world.
The resort town of Aqaba provides the perfect location for rest and relaxation and wonderful opportunities for snorkeling, water sports, activities and deep sea diving on the shores of the Red Sea. The pinkish corals of the Red Sea make for a beautiful sight and couples can enjoy a beautiful day on the sunny beach where they can relax, go on a boat cruise on the deep blue waters and enjoy views of the active marine life through a glass-bottomed boat. Aqaba is also a duty-free zone and is great for shopping as well!
A quick trip from Aqaba, Wadi Rum offers a truly unique and adventurous experience. The visitors will be amazed by their surroundings amid the stupendous cliffs, canyons, and seemingly endless orange sands as they enter the desert on a camel, horse, or 4x4 jeeps driven by a local Bedouin. It is then up to them to explore and discover the secrets of Wadi Rum hiking through the sand and mountains. Rock climbing is a popular activity and visitors come from around the world to tackle Wadi Rum’s challenging climbs. Wadi Rum is best experienced during a night or two of camping under the stars enjoying the silence of the desert, where you can truly bond as a couple!
