Manohar Parrikar inaugurates project undertaken for Tourism Circuit Development
Panaji, June 3 (NITN): Goa Tourism and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), under the Mega Tourism Circuit Development inaugurated the project undertaken for the pathway and illumination from O’Coueiro Circle to Ambrekarnath Temple, Porvorim on Tuesday.

The inauguration was done at the hands of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in the presence of  Laxmikant Parsekar, Chief Minister of Goa, Dilip Parulekar, Minister of Tourism, R.K. Srivastava,(IAS), Chief Secretary, Govt. of Goa, Nilesh Cabral, M.L.A & Chairman, GTDC Ltd.
 
The Department of Tourism and the GTDC, under the Mega Circuit Development programme has taken up the works of improvement of infrastructure in a phased manner.
 
The Project was taken up in order to provide safer and broader roadway for the vehicles and also provide safe footpath along the road as there were heavy vehicular traffic led to accidents many of which were fatal. 
 
The CHOGM road leading to touristically important sites of Calangute and Baga was also narrow and ridden with heavy traffic due to which the pedestrians and the tourists were facing hardship for crossing and walking on roads. 
 
GTDC has implemented the project in 3 phases at a cost of Rs. 2168 Lakhs.
