The Great Waterway Loop of Wielkopolska

Wielkopolska Region – a cradle of Polish State – is located in the western part of Poland. Poznań, the region's capital, is one of the biggest cities in Poland. The city attracts with its architecture and history.
In Wielkopolska particularly worth visiting are numerous castles, palaces and mansions which today hold charming hotels and unique museums.
Wielkopolska enchants you with its landscape of slightly undulating plains and lusciously green open space with numerous rivers, lakes and forests, and moraine hills adding variety to its landscape. Here, you can take a break from your hectic life, and just relax or you can choose active tourism.
Tourist trail called the Great Waterway Loop of Wielkopolska is the region's longest water trail, its length is 687,9 kilometres. It connects the waterways of Poland with large waterways in Western- and in Eastern Europe. The northern part of the Loop is a part of European Inland Waterway E70 leading from Antwerp to Klaipeda.
The trail has good infrastructure for enthusiasts of motor boating, yachting and kayaking. Many harbours, marinas and slips provide conditions for having a rest, meal or technical repairs. Most of them are new built. On average it takes 15 days to sail by motor boat (30 days by kayak) along the entire trail.
The Great Waterway Loop of Wielkopolska is an extremely attractive area with a varied natural and cultural environment. Along the way you can stop and visit towns with a wealth of history and impressive tourist attractions. The trail leads through protected areas such as the Wielkopolska National Park and 6 Landscape Reserves. Along the Loop there are 28 locks – some of them are a real historical sights of technology.
