Niagara Parks, WildPlay Niagara Falls officially open WildPlay's MistRider Zipline to falls attraction
On the grounds of Queen Victoria Park, overlooking both the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls, Niagara's newest tourism experience has taken flight.

WildPlay’s MistRider Zipline to the Falls was officially opened to the public by The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) and WildPlay Niagara Falls.

Designed to enhance the overall tourism offerings of Niagara and Niagara Parks, WildPlay’s MistRider Zipline to the Falls consists of four parallel lines that take guests on a 670 metre (2,200 foot) long scenic ride from Niagara Parks Grand View Marketplace to the historic Ontario Power Company building located within the Niagara Gorge.

“The new zipline will give tourists another unique way to experience the beauty that Niagara Falls has to offer,” said Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

“I want to congratulate The Niagara Parks Commission and WildPlay Niagara Falls for creating a world-class attraction that will draw new visitors from around the world and contribute to the continuing growth of tourism in the Niagara region,”  said McMahon.

According to Janice Thomson, Chair of The Niagara Parks Commission, “WildPlay’s MistRider Zipline to the Falls provides visitors with a breathtaking and authentic Niagara Falls and Niagara Parks experience. This new attraction is in keeping with Niagara Parks other natural attractions, and provides a unique way to interpret the Falls and the Niagara Gorge without impacting the access enjoyed by other visitors to Niagara.”

The Niagara Parks Commission began examining the possibility of a zipline attraction within the Park as early as 2011.

Following community and stakeholder consultations, the Commission then engaged the services of WildPlay Niagara Falls, through an open and competitive procurement process, to undertake the construction and operation of WildPlay’s MistRider Zipline to the Falls and WildPlay’s Whirlpool Adventure Course activities.

WildPlay Niagara Falls is a partnership between some of Niagara’s leading hospitality and attraction providers matched with the consulting and technical expertise of a prominent zipline and aerial adventure operator, WildPlay Element Parks.

WildPlay has developed five similar locations with a variety of challenge and thrill-based Element experiences in western Canada, and consults on outdoor adventure projects across North America and the Caribbean.

“The experience of WildPlay’s MistRider Zipline to the Falls doesn’t stop at the scenic views, though they are unlike any other experience,” said Tom Benson, CEO, WildPlay Element Parks.

“By giving people a way to explore the outdoors that is interactive, edgy, and fun, we further our mission of helping people go beyond their perceived limits, in a risk-managed environment, in order to realize the great self-confidence that exists just outside their comfort zone," said he.

Both NPC and WildPlay Niagara Falls believe that WildPlay’s MistRider Zipline to the Falls, along with WildPlay’s Whirlpool Adventure Course (opening soon), present the Commission and the destination with an exciting opportunity to expand the tourism products and services available to those visiting Niagara.

These new attractions increase the array of experiences for a vast demographic of people to enjoy more of what the world-class destination has to offer.

WildPlay’s MistRider Zipline to the Falls will operate from July until late October 2016. For more information and to book a spot on the new attraction, please visit: www.wildplay.com/niagarafalls.
