The programme is free and has been touted as a 'family friendly' outdoor event by the organisers, who expect over 10,000 people attending it.
The event will consist of Bollywood style dances, classical temple dances, bhangra, music, and a live DJ to rock the square.
More than 50 vendors will ply their trade, offering attendees the opportunity to explore hundreds of local and Indian gourmet food recipes inspired by regions from South Asia.
Speaking about the venture, Rinku Shah, Founder and Director, School of Flavors, said, “School of Flavours aims to be an institution which promotes richness of culture, tradition and heritage by connecting diverse communities together in an inclusive way to empower social and economic development of Canadians and people across the globe.”
Diverse range of participating vendors include some of the big names in the food industry like, Adrak Indian Restaurant, Bombay Chowpatty, Cabbagetown Organics, Casablanca Classics, Coconut Island, Desi-licious Kulfi, Hakka Wow!, Johnny Rocco’s Pizza Wagon, Keshav Foods, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khazana (Milton), Kirtida Kitchen, New Vanni Market, Truly Nature, Royal Paan (Dream Crest Rd.), Vijay Icecream, White Gold Sweets, to name a few.
Welcoming the guests, Vrajesh Shah, Director, Young Canadian Alliance, said, “We are excited to Celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday all year long and we welcome you to indulge in the Taste of India food festival and get entertained for free.”
The Taste of India Food Festival is sponsored and supported by Akshar Pavilion, Daal Roti, Flight Centre (Dufferin Mall), National Bank, Rekvina Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Ritu Collection, India Sajawat and Puja Hut.
“This festival promises an experience with the top South Asian Chefs of GTA that will tease your taste buds to the fullest and ever-vibrant South Asian culture and heritage by famous local performing artists will keep you interested,” said Tushar Unadkat, Festival Producer & Executive Director and CEO of MUKTA Advertising.
The festival will also offer guests the chance to win frequent raffle draw, including VIA Rail travel credit vouchers, dinner vouchers at the participating restaurant partners.
Taste of India food festival is also supported by several local businesses and artists who’ve donated money, time, and talent to support the community.
