The singer dedicated the album to her late brother, artist and co founder of ‘Khoj Kolkata’, Avijit Gupta.
Speaking at the launch, Shyamoshree said, “We were all too overwhelmed by my brother’s untimely death. I was in the USA and could not head back on time for the funeral rites in Kolkata. Once I reached India and spoke to my relatives the idea of recording an album was conceived and thus began by journey.”
The album named ‘Nibiro Ghono Aandhare’ contains 12 Rabindra Sangeets and are based on both ‘Prem and Puja Porjaye’ (Songs about Love and Worship) songs.
Speaking about her choice of songs and the title of the album, the singer said, “Growing up in a ‘Brahmo’ household, Tagore’s songs were a staple in our routine. My ‘Chorda’ (Avijit Gupta) used to teach us these songs with a lot of enthusiasm and warmth. He passed away on a ‘broody dark night’ hence the title of my album is quite apt.”
When asked about her plans of releasing music records in future, Shyamoshree told IBNS: “As of now, I don’t have such plans. I was in the US for 17 years. I used to sing there on various occasions and functions, but the feel you have ‘here’ is missing there, I have met with some of the musicians and I have been inspired. I will definitely release another album, when and how I have no clue.”
The album has been produced by Sagarika Music Pvt. Ltd. and priced at Rs. 150.
Barun Nandy, GM, Sagarika Music said, “We at Sagarika have provided platforms to performers we feel will make it big. After a long gap we have found someone similar, Sagarika is a talented singer, she has a beautiful voice.”
