Diwali brings ethnic extravaganza of men’s fashion
Kolkata, Nov 2 (NITN): Originating from the resplendent and extravagant look that the 'Maharajas' and 'Rajputras' used to carry during bygone eras, the mens' ethnic couture in India has evolved manifolds.

The clothing classics like Sherwani, Jodhpuri jackets, Kurtas still adorn men during festivities in India.

Diwali being one of the most widely celebrated festivals of India, is when even men would want to look their ethnic best and not just women.

22 year old student of Rabindra Bharati Universirty, Sourav Kumar Mondal says, "I love to sport the ethnic look whenever I get a chance. This Diwali I'm being very particular about my look. A Sherwani with pathani salwar is what in my mind for Diwali."

A 'sherwani' ensemble gives out a regal and suave look. One can never go wrong with a Sherwani. The classic sherwani look consists of a long embroidered kurta with churidar pants. The modern day sherwani can be shorter and can be sported with a 'salwar' or 'slim-fit' trousers or a dhoti.

One can always refer to the looks of various Maharajas from the pages of history. Short Jodhpuri jacket or an embellished Angarakha can be sported with a head gear, i.e, a 'Pagdi'. It is also trendy to go a bit quirky with the choice of color-combination. Geometric patterns and Neon colors are very much part of  the ethnic collections of various designers.

As important as it is to look really stunning, it is also about being comfortable and being subtle. Nothing over-the-top is ever easy on the eyes.

It is important to first understand one's physique and body structure before deciding on an ensemble.

Sourav added, "The Raymond Shop in Poddar Court has a pretty decent collection of ethnic fabrics. Raymond has never disappointed me when it came to clothing, whether ethnic or casual. I might also try their ethnic jackets this time."

Primarc Group’s Raymond Shop, Poddar Court is the only national master franchisee for Raymond Group with a strong presence in Eastern India. Other stores include Essence and Color Plus. There are 36 other Raymond stores across eastern India under Primarc.

Primarc Group has also innovated the idea of Raymond Made-to-Measure store for the first time in Kolkata, a service of premium clothing that allows customer to ensemble by bringing together their own personal taste.

There are currently two Made-to-Measure stores. One such store is in Forum Courtyard  and another at Quest Mall which has opened recently.
