26 Feb 2016, 03:59 pm

Kolkata, Feb 26 (IBNS): Nandalal Bose Gallery and Jamini Roy Gallery of ICCR in Kolkata is hosting 'TRANSLATIONS', the fifth international young artists exhibition promoted by Emergent Art Space, a non profit organization based in San Francisco, USA.
The exhibition is organized and curated by Emergent Art Space in collaboration with artist Samindranath Majumdar, Professor at The Indian College for Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata.
It features more than 40 works: paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations and videos by young artists from 16 countries around the world, including 22 artists from Kolkata.
The exhibition was inaugurated on Feb 19, 2016, by painter and MP, Jogen Chowdhury.
The first edition of the international exhibition ‘TRANSLATIONS’ was held at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, USA in 2015. Part of that exhibition is now travelling to Kolkata, where it will be enriched by the diverse work of local artists.
The theme ‘Translations’ invites artists and the public to reflect on the challenges, difficulties and possibilities inherent in the effort to translate and communicate, both literally and metaphorically, and on the large and small changes, transitions and transformations which are part of the human life.
