Cherie Blair
Kolkata: Barrister-writer-activist Cherie Blair in a virtual interactive session on Tuesday said women won't be totally free as long as prejudices against them persist.
Launching author Mohini Kent's book Dear Mama, Blair at an event hosted by Prabha Khaitan Foundation, said, "As long as prejudices are there against women, be it anywhere, no women will be totally free."
On the same issue, Kent said, "The mindset of women as much as of men has to change because we (women) fall into this mindset no matter where we are and how well educated, outgoing one is. That is the fundamental problem."
Linking liberalisation with Covid-19, Blair, the wife of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, said, "I do think more people have realised that with technology, working from home is something more flexible. It is particularly liberating for women."
Dear Mama is a book about intimate letters from eminent personalities including Prime Minister Modi to their mothers.
"It is a great honour for Prabha Khaitan Foundation to host the unveiling of Dear Mama which is a stupendous collection of letters to one's mothers and which evokes deep feelings of love, emotion, compassion and inspiration," said Sundeep Bhutoria, Trustee, Prabha Khaitan Foundation.
