India’s beloved dosa has earned major global bragging rights after featuring prominently in TasteAtlas’ May 2026 list of the 50 best pancakes in the World.
Known for its crisp texture, tangy fermented flavour, and endless versatility, the South Indian staple secured multiple spots on the international rankings, proving that pancakes are not just about syrup and sweetness.
Masala dosa cracks global top 10
Leading India’s charge is the iconic masala dosa, which grabbed the 6th spot with a strong 4.3-star rating, making it one of the highest-ranked savoury pancakes on the list.
Regular dosa as a category came in at No. 15 with a 4.2 rating, while the ultra-thin and crispy paper dosa landed at No. 35 with 4.1 stars.
Why does dosa stand out?
Unlike sweet pancakes popular in many countries, dosa offers something completely different — a savoury, fermented dish made from rice and lentils, often served with chutney and sambar.
From buttery masala fillings to giant paper-thin versions, dosa has won fans far beyond India and is now officially a global favourite.
