Montreal: Air Canada will expand its Mexico network this summer, increasing seat capacity by 18% compared with last year and launching a new year-round route between Montréal and Guadalajara.

The new Montréal–Guadalajara service will begin in June 2026. The airline will also increase flight frequencies on several existing routes, including Montréal–Cancún to 11 weekly flights, Toronto–Monterrey to four weekly flights, Vancouver–Mexico City to 11 weekly flights and Vancouver–Puerto Vallarta to two weekly flights.

The expansion comes as Canada and Mexico deepen economic ties and Canadian businesses seek to diversify trade beyond traditional markets.

Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said the airline has served Mexico since 1954 and that growing passenger and cargo demand supports the increased capacity.

“New service between Montréal and Guadalajara will be offered year-round, and we will increase capacity to other sought-after destinations across the country,” Galardo said.

Air Canada said the expansion forms part of its broader Latin America strategy, aimed at strengthening passenger and cargo connections through its Canadian hubs.

Dominic LeBlanc, minister responsible for Canada-U.S. trade and intergovernmental affairs, said that these air links "will further strengthen Canada-Mexico ties" and enabling the two countries to do "more business together.'

Candace Laing, president and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, said improved connectivity would facilitate trade, tourism and investment between the two countries.
