Lufthansa has introduced a new stopover programme that gives passengers travelling on selected routes from Singapore and the United States the option to extend their layover in Munich into a city stay of up to seven days.

The new stopover option is available directly through the airline’s booking platform and can be added to either the outbound or return journey across all travel classes. Travellers can choose to stay in Munich for anywhere between 24 hours and seven days, depending on their itinerary. Additional charges may apply on certain route combinations.

Passengers also have the option to add hotel stays, rental cars and leisure activities in the Bavarian capital through Lufthansa’s integrated travel partners, starting 24 hours after booking their flights.

Heiko Reitz, Member of the Lufthansa Airlines Board and Hub Manager Munich said: "With our new stopover program, we are turning a layover in Munich into real added value for our guests. We are excited to give travellers the opportunity to flexibly incorporate one of Europe's most attractive cities and regions into their journey, enhancing their flight with a truly personal travel experience."

Munich is the first city to be included under the programme, which is currently available for passengers flying from Singapore and the U.S.

The airline plans to gradually expand the offering to more regions and destinations over the next year, with similar stopover options also being considered for other hubs within the Lufthansa Group.
