1975 born a professional Bharatanatyam exponent, empanelled by Indian Council for Cultural Relations as a national level Bharatnatyam dancer in the year 2000, Madhuboni started her journey in the World of Dance in 1991 through her Arengetram or Mancha Prabesh. Trained under Guru Thankamani Kutti, Kalanidhi Narayan and inspired by Alarmel Valley she has always been trying to find new directions through this traditional classical dance style.
She has choreographed several items like “Navarasa Nayaki”, “Vaishnav Padavali Bhanu Singha O Ekti Charitra”, “Ananda Lahiri” “Annya Aami” based on Chitrangada’s story, “Ranga Nayaker Janya” based on Tagore’s Ritu Rango and Tagore’s immortal classic “Raktakarobi” in dance theatre format and has performed at several prestigious platforms all over the country including India International Centre, Sangeet Natak Academy and Dover Lane Music Conference.
Awarded as the Best Dancer’s Award at the Dover Lane Music Conference dance festival, Jadubhatta Purashkar by Salt Lake Music Conference, Outstanding Young Performer for the Year 2000 by Junior Chamber of Commerce, Calcutta, Best Choreography Work for 2002 by Indian Cultural Ensemble, Best Dance Theatre by Swapnasadhi and best production of the year award for 2005 by Govt. of West Bengal.
Madhuboni’s latest choreographic work Tagore’s Raktakarobi Dance Theatre was invited by Indian Council for Cultural Relations to represent India at an international conference on Tagore Literature at Dhaka National Museum in 2011.
She has also choreographed Raktakarobi’s English version “Red Oleander” in 2012 under the sponsorship of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
Delivered lectures and participated in seminars on invitations at Sahitya Academy, Jadavpur University, British Council and many other institutes.
On Nov 27, she is going to present a solo Btaratnatyam Dance Performance to celebrate her 25 years of journey in this classical dance world at G.D. Birla Sabhagar, Kolkata under the auspices of jahnavi Centre for Performing Arts.
