Kolkata: Tomorrow’s Foundation, in association with the Mumbai-based NGO Salaam Bombay Foundation, organised an inter-school drawing competition on the occasion of Children's Day to promote its anti-tobacco campaign.
The drawing competition witnessed the participation of students from classes 7, 8 and 9 from 25 government schools under Samagra Shiksha Mission in three different categories, Tobacco Free School, Tobacco Free Home and Tobacco Free Society.
Through this programme, children were made aware about the ill-effects of tobacco consumption, and also became acquainted with various ways and means to stay away from tobacco.
This was an exercise aimed at enabling them to develop important life skills, and thereby become effective public health change agents in their schools and communities.
The participants created beautiful paintings on the anti-tobacco theme, and sent out a request to the Government of West Bengal to make all government schools in the state completely tobacco-free zones.
Tomorrow’s Foundation, established in 1991, is a city-based NGO committed to all-round development of children.
