Dr Vinay Prabhakar Sahasrabuddhe, MP and ICCR President of ICCR, watches a play staged at Academy of Fine Arts.
Kolkata: Dr Vinay Prabhakar Sahasrabuddhe, MP and President of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), recently witnessed leading theatre group Purba Paschim’s very acclaimed production “Ek Mancha Ek Jiban” staged at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata.
The play is based on the life of Girish Chandra Ghosh - the father of Bengali theater.
The theatre show was attended by senior citizen members of Pronam, a joint initiative of Kolkata Police and leading non-governmental organisation The Bengal.
Dr Sahashrabuddhe enjoyed the production thoroughly and was felicitated by the theatre group at the end of the show.
Soumitra Mitra introduced him to the audience and in his brief speech Dr Sahasrabuddhe lauded the contribution of Bengal in the cultural sphere in India and especially mentioned the impact of Rabindranath Tagore.
At the end of the programme he greeted all the artists and conveyed his gratitude for the invitation.
