Rotary Club Calcutta West Ridge has organised a creative writing competition among schools and colleges students on Sister Nivedita's contributions to India.
The award-giving ceremony was held recently at the Shivananda Hall, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture in Kolkata.
Sister Nivedita was born in Ireland, came to India as a disciple of Swami Vivekananda, and gave her life for the development of India in all respects.

Rotary Club wanted to enhance general awareness about the work of Sister Nivedita in the field of education, women emancipation, art, science, literature, and freedom movement among the students, an official statement said.
A total of 53 students were given prizes on the occasion. The participating schools included Sister Nivedita Girls School, DPS NewTown, RamKrishna Mission, Narendrapur, and Bethune Collegiate School, among others.
The first prize winners were Ishani Pandey, Anwesha Anand, Akanksha Behura, Subhadeep Sarkar, Banani Saha, Nivedita Saha, and Kamalakanta Barman.

The program was largely attended by students.
Swami Suparnanandaji Maharaj was the Chief Guest, and Swami Ekchittanandaji Maharaj offered two songs in his melodious voice.
Nirbanprana Mataji was present in the Program. Rotary District Governor Rtn.Dr Krishnendu Gupta and District Governor Elect Rtn. Dr Ramendu Hom Choudhury were also present on the occasion.
