The Chief Guest at the Symposium, M. V. Rao, Principal Secretary, Sundarban Affairs – Government of West Bengal, delivered the keynote address.
The Guest of Honour, R. N. Lahiri, Chairman, Education Committee, BCC&I, delivered the valedictory address.
‘Learning Beyond Education’ – the philosophy of using unconventional and innovative methods of imparting management education – has served as the basis of the Globsyn Knowledge Foundation’s special interest in organising activities on varied management concepts, with a view to make students, the corporate community as a whole and other stakeholders to be contemporary in their perspectives and at par with the thinking and knowledge of the most developed economies.
The Globsyn Human Resource Symposium, aimed at the corporate community, is one such initiative of the Globsyn Knowledge Foundation. The Symposium attached the greatest importance to Human Resources as the cornerstone of all successful organisations, and viewed this from various important standpoints, as the subjects of the group discussions and presentations clearly bear out. The Symposium comprised three sessions on three different subjects, with discussions by panelists, followed by presentations on topics relevant to both industry and academia.
The Symposium was also attended by a large number of students of the Globsyn Knowledge Foundation.
Kaushik Bhattacharya, Location Head-IBM, Sushanta Sinha, Regional Head, Learning & Development – TCS and Shivesh Singh, Zonal Head HR – L&T Finance spoke on ‘Talent Engagement & Development’. ‘Data Analytics & HRM’ was the subject of one of the sessions, with the panelists being Sushmita Bhattacharya, GM, HR-Birla Corporation and Vishal Verma, Sr. Manager, HR-Techno Electric.
Sidhartha Pandey, Vice President – Group HR, EMC Limited, Seema Tiwari, Head HR – Emami Realty, and George Thomas, VP Corporate HR – MSP Group made up the panel which deliberated on ‘Emerging Paradigm’.
Rajeeb Kumar, CEO – Materialworld & VP – NHRDN, Kolkata Chapter made a presentation on ‘Integrating HR Knowledge and Applications from Management Graduates Perspective – Take Away for a B-School’. ‘How to Transform Management Students as Knowledge Seekers – Take Away for Management Graduates’ was the subject of the presentation made by Indranil Banerjee, Senior Manager, HR & Administration – WBSEDCL.
Rahul Dasgupta, Joint Managing Director, Globsyn Group said, “We are happy to organize the Globsyn HR Symposium and the 3rd National Skills Convocation in conjunction with a view to connect the industry with the learner community of both traditional academics and vocational training. The Symposium enabled knowledge sharing among students, faculty and corporates with respect to technology, social media, HR standards and industry trends. Globsyn would look to facilitate similar engagements between the learner community and the industry in the future as part of its Beyond Education initiative.”
