The Blumax lens material provides maximum protection not only from the harmful UV rays but also harmful high energy blue light.
These lenses are designed to fit all prescriptions and lifestyle needs, ensuring better protection than just filter coatings.
Visible light is much more complex than we think.
Different-coloured light rays carry different amounts of energy.
Blue light has very high energy which is harmful to the eyes.
Blue light has almost twice the energy per photon as red light at the other end of the visible spectrum.
This is the same energy that causes sunburn and cataracts.
Experts opine that most of us are unaware about the presence of blue light and its harmful effects and therefore don’t do much to prevent this light emitted by the Sun, digital screens, TV, computers, laptops, smart phones, tablets, electronic devices and LED lights from reaching our eyes.
Most people who regularly use digital devices are affected by the blue light emitted from their LED/ LCD screens and thus experience symptoms of digital eyestrain, but most don't take measures to reduce their discomfort mainly due to lack of knowledge.
Children are equally exposed to the harmful blue light as they too use digital devices both at school and at play.
Moreover, blue light emission is not only confined to digital devices, it is emitted by LED lights, CFL lights etc used for indoor illumination.
Sunlight also carries harmful UV rays and blue light and hence optimum protection from harmful UV and blue light is necessary both indoors and outdoors.
The effects of blue light exposure are known to be detrimental to the health.
It disrupts the circadian rhythm, suppresses melatonin- the sleep inducing hormone, increases the risk of getting certain type of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and obesity, might induce or exaggerate myopia, age related macular degeneration etc and can even cause irreversible vision loss.
It also causes digital eye strain, aggravates computer vision syndrome, blurry vision, eye irritation, headaches, neck and back pain and other aesthanopic symptoms.
