The institute felicitated 903 students.
Dignitaries who were present at the function included Sardar Jodh Singh- Chairman, JIS Group, Prof. S M Chatterjee – Chairman, Board of Governors, JIS College of Engineering, Prof. Ajay Kumar Ray – Chief Guest, Director of IIEST, Prof. Subrata Kumar Dey VC , MAKAUT, WB., Dr. Malay R Dave – Chairman, Academic Council, Principal JISCE.
Also present were Sila Singh Ghosh (Registrar JISCE), Prof. Asit Guha (Advisor, JIS Group), Harjot Singh (Director, JIS Group), Simapreet Singh (Director, JIS Group), Amanjot Singh (Director, JIS Group), Prof. S S Gupta (Convenor IQAC) and Dr. Meghamala Dutta (Controller of Examination).
Taranjit Singh, Chancellor, JIS University, said, “The learning years are the most important and vital days in a student’s life. It is through them that the knowledge will reach out to the society and future generations. The convocation is not only a way to felicitate them, I hope, it will also encourage them to pursue higher studies in the future.”
At the convocation, 657 students of B. Tech (undergraduate) batch of 2016 were felicitated. Among the 246 masters degree (M.Tech, MBA, MCA) holders, felicitated, 73 students were from 2014 bacth, 110 students from 2015, and 63 students from 2016 batch.
“We not only see that the students come out of the colleges and universities being a graduate and a Master degree holder; apart from giving them the proper education, we also stress on their becoming a good human being and a good citizen of the society,” added Mr. Taranjit Singh.
Commenting on the future plans of the college, Dr. Malay R Dave-Principal, JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani said, “On this sweet sixteenth year, we have enriched our student experience by throwing open value addition centers that would enhance and add on to their academic experience. For this, we have partners in progress such as the CII Innovation Lab, British Council, Tata Technology Collaborative Innovation Learning Lab, Start-Up Incubation Lab, Global Opportunity Centre and NPTEL to name a few. We also have a robust placement cell that aids the students in getting coveted jobs.”
Sila Singh Ghosh, Registrar JISCE, said, “The entire JIS family is very happy indeed. The students are like our children and they were really excited when the date of the 1st Convocation Day was announced. We always try to give the best of everything we can, so that they can shine brightly in the future. ”
