Beyond Canvas at Gallery Sanskriti
By Tanya Dutt 09 Jul 2015, 09:07 am

Gallery Sanskriti at Kolkata has had the privilege of hosting solo shows of the luminaries of contemporary Indian art such as Akbar Padamsee, Laxma Goud and Yusuf Arakkal among many others from all over the country. The Gallery has always been experimenting and promoting new artists who explore unique abilities and styles. Without chancing on a new art form or artist, art becomes stagnant and defies its very own purpose of being creative and thought provoking.
For Gallery Sanskriti associations with new and upcoming coming artists and styles has always been a prerogative. “At this point, only being established does not prove much of a challenge, it is time to re-invent and be abreast with the world as regards the future of Art” says Gallery owner Ambica Beri. For the Gallery, art is no longer confined to canvas. Art has to evolve into a tangible experience, one that moves people, involves them and impels them to change and act..jpg)

Thus rejoicing in the vitality and ever changing dynamism of creativity, the Gallery will expand horizons into new mediums, mixed materials and new artists through a series of shows for its 25th anniversary. A true appreciation of the arts would be acknowledging and encouraging various forms of art like the visual and performing arts too. A first among Galleries in the country and definitely a first for Kolkata, Gallery Sanskriti will have shows this year for bronze sculptors, ceramic artists, textile designers, interactive design media and recycled art.

“In many ways this anniversary is about going beyond who and what we are, stepping out of the perceptions of a Gallery and spreading our wings to the freedom and boldness of art.”
