The Indian Armed Forces are military forces of India which comprises four professional uniformed services namely:

The Indian Army
Indian Air Force
Indian Navy
Paramilitary organizations

Various inter-service institutions also serve the country along with the Indian Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is responsible for the management of armed forces in India. An Army or ground force is a fighting power that fights primarily on land. It is the land-based military branch, service branch or armed service of a nation or state.

An Air Force, also known in some countries as air army, is the national military organization that primarily conducts aerial warfare. It is the division of a nation's armed services that is liable for aerial warfare as distinct from an army, navy, or a marine corps. A Navy or maritime force is a fleet of waterborne military vessels and its associated naval aviation, both sea-based and land-based.

Upcoming entry schemes

SSC (T) 49 and SSCW (T) 20 Course

Indian Army conducts two technical recruitment for engineering graduates, SSC tech 49 course for men and SSC Tech 20 course for women.
Through these two courses, Army will pile up the vacancies in its technical branch. Army shortlists candidates based on their educational performance and sends call letters for SSB interviews.

Final selection will be made based on recommendations from Service Selection Boards(SSB).

NCC 41 for Men and Women Course of Indian Army

Indian Army conducts special entry courses for candidates with NCC C level certificates. Indian Army has released notification of NCC 41 special entry for men and women.

TGC 126 Course

A notification will be released in the third week of May,2017. Engineering male graduates are eligible to apply for TGC 126 course. Army will shortlist candidates for SSB interviews based on the marks scored by the candidates in first six semesters of engineering.

10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES) 38 Course

Army has released 10+2 TES 38 course notification recently. All candidates who have passed 10+2 exam with 70% and above are eligible to apply for TES course. Applicants will be shortlisted by Army based on their 10+2 marks and thus will be called for SSB interviews.

SSB

The Service Selection Board (SSB) undertakes SSB Interview to assess likely candidates for recruitment in the Army, Navy and Air Force.
It has been set up by the Ministry of Defence and the benchmarks on which the candidates are assessed comprise intelligence, personality, compatibility and potential.

Eligibility

For males:

Born on or after 2 January 1991 and not after 1 January 1996.
In case of Air force Academy, a person should be born on or after 2 January 1992 and on or before 1st January 1996.

For females:

Born on or after 2 January 1990 and on or before 1 January 1996.

Unmarried or widow.

Qualification:

Naval Academy: A bachelor's degree in engineering.

Air Force Academy: A degree in B.Sc. with Physics & Mathematics; B.E. and B. Tech.

Indian Military Academy and Officers' Training Academy: Degree or equivalent from a recognized university.

Force Wise Fitness Criteria

Army

Male requirement: 15 Push-ups, 45 Sit-ups (feet held), 7.5 Shuttle run score.
Female requirement: 8 Push-ups, 45 Sit-ups (feet held), 7.5 Shuttle run score.

Air Force

Male requirement: 10 Push-ups, 20 Sit-ups (feet held), 6.5 Shuttle run score.
Female requirement: 4 Push-ups, 20 Sit-ups (feet held), 6.5 Shuttle run score.

Navy

Male requirement: 15 Push-ups, 20 Sit-ups (feet held), 6.1 Shuttle run score.
Female requirement: 6 Push-ups, 20 Sit-ups (feet held), 6.1 Shuttle run score.
