There is hope even in death says Dr Abhijit Dam in his latest book Mrtyu
Power Publishers recently released "Mrtyu" by Dr Abhijit Dam. A conversation with the author reveals his passion for the written word and how he juggled writing with his medical practice.

How did you become involved with the subject or the theme of your book Mrtyu?

I have always been fascinated with the concept of after life, especially owing to the personal experiences narrated to me by my terminally ill patients. When I researched into these experiences with the wisdom in our Upanishads and the ancient Buddhists teachings, a whole new perspective surrounding death and after-life opened up.

How long have you been writing?

This is my second book, the first being 'Wading through quicksand'. I have been writing for one and a half years now.

Do you write more by logic or intuition, or combination of the two?

I am a very difficult person to convince...and my writing speak of my conviction on the subject. It is basically based on real life experiences corroborated by the ancient  teachings.

Where did your love of books/storytelling/reading come from?

My work surrounds the experiences of my terminally ill patients, most of whom are no longer alive. But I consider them immortal. My stories render them immortal...they leave behind a legacy in the form of their experiences with the process of dying...and thus help to sustain hope for thousands of the living.

Are you comfortable with the idea of writing about death?

I assure the readers that there is hope even in death...my book corroborates  that...what can be more gratifying than that!
