Undoubtedly, discrepancies in the images and signature are major faults observed in JEE Main application forms each year. The forms were released in the month of December with the instructions clearly specifying the amount of care and patience one requires to have while filling the forms to avoid any folly.
In spite of this, several applicants tend to commit mistakes while filling up their forms. This year, the common errors revolved around the discrepancies in the personal/academic details and some applicants even faced fee related issues. In addition to this, several candidates failed to book their slots for JEE Main. These are some of the errors but the major one lied in the image and signature section of the application as it was quite complex and therefore led to some faults while filling the form.
Generally, it has been observed that the portal for JEE Main form correction is usually released after submission of certain number of applications. So, those who have committed any mistakes must be well- informed about the tentative dates of the correction portal and also how those mistakes can be corrected. How is CBSE Helping with the Correction Procedure?
Even an error in the minutest details can lead to cancellation of the form, therefore, to avoid such situation, CBSE never fails to cooperate in order to initiate a correction procedure for the aspirants.
According to resources, the correction procedure began from December 8, 2017. In case of any discrepancy regarding details of the candidate, the correction facility will be available only after the end of the application process, while in case of any mistake in the image or uploaded signature, candidates will get an opportunity to correct the same by visiting the official site of JEE Main 2018.
Apart from this, it is notified that CBSE is not authorized to accept any correction through any offline medium such as fax. Candidates are only allowed to apply for the correction procedure via an online medium already specified by CBSE.
How to Rectify the Discrepancies in Images and Signature in JEE Main 2018 Application Form?
The instructions about the application form never failed to emphasize the importance of the images and signatures as they need to be uploaded in the most appropriate format in given specifications. Applicants need to upload a particular photograph and three signatures which include the signature of the candidate itself, and also the signatures of the father/mother/guardian.
If a candidate has performed any errors while uploading the signatures and image, he or she should change it immediately as the same image will be a part of JEE Main admit card, and also, it will be uploaded to the rank card which will be issued after JEE Main results.
As per the instructions provided, the uploaded image should to be in JPEG format with a size range of 4KB to 40KB and the dimensions of the same needs to be of 3.5cm x 4.5cm. Apart from this, the signature of the candidate /father/mother/guardian should also be in JPEG format with a size range of 1KB to 30KB and the dimensions to be of 3.5cm x 1.5cm. Along with it, the image should portray a transparent frontal picture of the candidate avoiding hats, red eye or glare. However, the signatures need to be on a white sheet with a black pen.
Considering the situation where the applicant has already uploaded an incorrect image or signature, s/he needs to rectify it immediately. In order to do this, one need to visit JEE Main official website. After accessing it, the applicant need to look for the option which enables to amend the discrepancies in images and the signatures.
In order to access the correction portal for images and signatures, candidates must enter their application number along with their passwords so that they can log on to the page for correction. After the candidates have been redirected to the correction page, they need to upload their finalized image and signatures. Since the specifications are intricate, it is better to consult a professional so that there will be no room left for any discrepancy in the above-mentioned specifications.
According to resources, the notification has been provided that the candidates should ameliorate any possible errors in their images and signatures by January 1st, 2018. Even a minor discrepancy can lead to the cancellation of application form. Thus, it is better to read all instructions carefully and thoroughly to avoid any fault.
