Four new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Assam, total count reaches 5

Guwahati/NITN: Four more positive cases for COVID-19 have been reported in Assam on Wednesday and with this total number of Coronavirus infected cases have increased to five in the state so far.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said four new positive cases were detected at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

The Assam minister further said that, these people had visited Nizamuddin area in Delhi.

According to the reports, among the new four cases one youth is 19-year-old and he is hailing from Nalbari district and other three persons are from Jagiroad area in Morigaon district.

Earlier, a 52-year-old man from Karimganj district was found positive for COVID-19 at Silchar Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.

The Assam minister further said that, four more persons from Assam have also found positive for COVID-19 outside of the state.

“347 people who visited the Nizamuddin Dargah had returned back to Assam from Delhi and the state government has identified 230 out of them last night. We have collected 196 samples and sent it for testing,” the minister said.

He also said that, 117 people are still untraced who had visited the Nizamuddin area.

Seven positive cases for COVID-19 have been reported in the North Eastern region so far including five from Assam and one each from Manipur and Mizoram.
