Tourism body Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) had recently organized various road shows at Chandigarh, Shimla, Jalandhar and Amritsar.
“It’s a new concept as barely people from outside Goa know about Gurudwaras here. We have a good population of Sikh community here,” GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral, who led the delegation to the two states, told reporters on his return to Goa.
The GTDC also highlighted monsoon tourism here which can be enjoyed through nature trails, waterfalls, river rafting, kayaking and festivals like San Joao, Sangodd and Bonderam.
Goa Tourism is now keen on tapping the huge base of domestic tourists by promoting the state during the non-peak months from April to October.
In the coming few weeks, the GTDC has planned similar road shows in South India and Travel Fairs to be participated by Goa Tourism for vigorously marketing the state products.
The tourism department and GTDC have jointly conducted various road shows and international events in London, Berlin, France and other key markets in north India so far to market and promote Goa.
Besides, a brand consultant is in the process of being appointed to develop brand architecture, work out creative options and implement a brand strategy for Goa tourism.
The international tourist destination already plays hosts to over 26 lakh tourists annually to its pristine beaches, rich culture and tradition, heritage structures, churches and temples existing since Portuguese-era and various other locations.
Projects such as hinterland tourism, monsoon tourism, beach bumming are just a few to name.

Malaysia Airlines will expand its South India network by adding more flights on the Kuala Lumpur–Trivandrum route to meet rising demand, the airline said. From September 12, the carrier will operate five weekly services, with daily flights to start from December 1.
IndiGo has expanded its codeshare agreement with KLM, the Netherlands’ national airline, providing its passengers with enhanced access to destinations across Europe and the United Kingdom through KLM’s network, the airline said.
