Bengaluru/NITN: Bengaluru’s Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna railway station is the first in the country to sport a freshwater movable tunnel aquarium as part of a development programme to increase passenger facilities and entertainment.

The project, called Aquatic Kingdom, has been executed by the Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) and HNi Aquatic Kingdom.

The 12 feet long gallery is based on the Amazon River concept, according to the IRSDC, and consists of plants, marine and tropical sections, and decorated with natural rocks, driftwood and artificial coral rocks.

Some of the interesting acquisitions include alligator gar ranging from two to three feet, sting rays, and eels up to three-and-a-half feet, sharks, lobsters, snails and shrimps.

A 3-D selfie area has also been set up where visitors can take a picture with a fish apparently popping out of the aquarium.

To ensure COVID-19 regulations are maintained, 25 passengers are allowed inside at a time.

There is an entry fee of Rs 25 per head.
