Tokyo/NITN: The Great Hall at Hogwarts, the Diagon Alley or the Forbidden Forest may not be on your regular travel bucket list of places to visit but if you are a Potterhead (fans of Harry Potter, for the uninitiated), you may not want to pass up the chance to make your dream come true at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo in Japan.
Declared open on June 16 this year, ‘Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter’ is a theme park offering fans the chance to step into the Ministry of Magic set, enjoy behind-the-scenes of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, discover secrets of the Wizarding World, see exquisite costumes and come face to face with magical creatures while learning filmmaking secrets.
Hands-on experiences and fun activities have been planned so that Potterheads can enjoy their visit to the fullest.
Riding a broomstick, drinking a refreshing Butterbeer, appearing in a moving portrait in the halls of Hogwarts, or stepping into the crowd of a Quidditch game top the attractions chart.
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo has been built in the space which was once occupied by one of Japan’s famous amusement parks, Toshimaen (the latter shut down in August 2020).
Spanning over 900 square meter with 30 feet tall walls, the space has been constructed by hand by skilled filmmakers from the Harry Potter film series and then it was carefully transported and re-built in Tokyo, the company said in a release.
The Tokyo-based theme park is the first one of its kind in Asia, following in the footsteps of the ‘Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - the Making of Harry Potter’, which opened in 2012.

The company has said that Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo will feature exclusive sets only available in this location.
The inauguration was marked by the presence of some of the actors from the film – Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) apart from other local stars and guests.
According to the company, The Studio Tour will also be home to the largest Harry Potter shop in the world, featuring 14 themed sections that are decorated with over 7,000 bespoke and specially sourced props.
The design elements draw inspiration from elements of the shops on Diagon Alley including Honeydukes, Ollivanders and Flourish and Blotts.
A huge range of products will be available for sale, many of which have been exclusively developed for Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo, the company said in a release.
The restaurants and cafés will serve traditional British fare such as fish and chips, roast beef, English breakfast and Afternoon Tea, to name a few.
Note: Tickets for the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo must be booked in advance for a specific time and date. These will not be available at the venue. Price: Adult – ¥6,300, Junior - ¥5,200, and Child - ¥3,800.
