Booking Tatkal train tickets is set to become faster and more convenient with the launch of IRCTC's revamped ticket booking website on July 15. The upgraded platform has been designed to improve the booking experience, especially during peak Tatkal hours when the website often witnesses heavy traffic.
One of the biggest improvements is the platform's enhanced capacity. While the earlier system could process around 32,000 ticket bookings per minute, the new website can now handle up to 1.5 lakh bookings per minute. It has also significantly boosted its enquiry-handling capability, increasing it to nearly 40 lakh enquiries per minute, making the platform better equipped to deal with the rush during Tatkal bookings.
The redesigned website also introduces several user-friendly features aimed at making ticket booking easier. A new fare calendar allows passengers to view fares across an entire month, making it convenient to compare prices and identify dates when tickets are relatively cheaper or more expensive. The seat selection process has also been streamlined, allowing users to choose their preferred seats more easily during booking.
Another notable change is the removal of CAPTCHA during the booking process, eliminating one of the common hurdles passengers faced while trying to secure Tatkal tickets in the limited booking window. The new website also supports multiple languages, including English, Hindi and several regional languages, making it more accessible to users across the country.
