Snow, rain batter Kashmir valley
Srinagar, Mar 2 (NITN) Most parts of the Kashmir valley received fresh snowfall badly affecting land and air traffic in Jammu and Kashmir. The snow and rain continued to batter the valley for the second day on Monday.

According to reports, the Kashmir valley and the hilly regions of the state witnessed fresh snowfall Monday. Srinagar received 2-3 inches of snow overnight.

In Jammu region, overnight rains disrupt normal life even as the Met Dept has predicted similar conditions for the next 24 hours in the state.

A senior official in the state government told IBNS over phone that heavy snow fall forced traffic department to stop the vehicular movement on 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.

Snowfall resulted in slippery conditions prompting the authorities to suspend the traffic on the road, he said, adding dozens of Jammu-bound passenger and heavy vehicles were stranded and efforts are on to clear the traffic.

He further said that snow clearance machines are on way to clear the roads though even snow cutters machines are facing hurdles owing to continuing snow and rain.

Kashmir University has also postponed all exams scheduled for Monday.
