Tony South named as next Chair of Tourism Australia
Sydney, Sept 22 (NITN): Andrew Robb AO MP, Minister for Trade and Investment, has announced the appointment of Tony South as the new Chair of Tourism Australia's board.

Minister Robb said Tony South has been a leading contributor to the tourism industry for many years and is extremely well qualified to carry out this important role.
 
“Having held senior commercial and executive roles across the Asia Pacific, Tony brings excellent skills and experience to the role of Chair. His long standing commitment to tourism means he will provide strong leadership to the industry more broadly,” he said.
 
Key Australian tourism associations joined John O’Sullivan, Tourism Australia’s Managing Director, in welcoming the announcement.
 
"Tony is obviously well-known to myself, Tourism Australia and to the broader Australian tourism industry, where he is well-respected and will bring a wealth of valuable industry experience to the role," said O’Sullivan.
 
“Tony has served on Tourism Australia's Board since July 2014, has chaired our Audit Committee and is currently acting as the interim deputy-Chair. We envisage a very smooth transition.”
 
ATEC Managing Director Peter Shelley added: “Tony is a man who has always been very engaged with industry bodies through a range of positions, and he has a deep knowledge of the priority needs of the Australian tourism industry.”
 
TTF CEO Margy Osmond said, "Tony South has been a wonderful contributor to the tourism industry for many years, filling many senior executive roles across the Asia Pacific and he will bring excellent skills and experience to the role of Chair at TA."
 
South is a Chartered Public Accountant and brings to the role more than 40 years accounting, management, property brokerage and consulting experience mostly in the tourism, hospitality and leisure sectors.
