Maharashtra's Minister of Tourism inaugurates Jaya He 'Museum Safari' at Mumbai's Terminal 2
Mumbai, May 18 (NITN): On World International Museum Day, GVK MIAL's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, the metropolitan's integrated terminal that hosts India’s largest public art program – Jaya He, announced the launch of a new service - The Jaya He ‘Museum Safari’, for travelers transiting through the iconic Terminal 2.

Minister of Tourism & EGS, Government of Maharashtra - Jaykumar J. Rawal officially inaugurated this unique service for passengers at a ceremony held at the airport on Thursday.

The launch of the Museum Safari was part of the weeklong celebrations planned at the swanky T2 to mark the International Museum Day, an event organized annually by the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

The GVK Jaya He Art Museum Safari, a distinctive passenger engagement program, entails a brief 15-minute tour of rare artifacts and installations placed across four levels at the airport. The purpose of this initiative is to give travelers a chance to get a glimpse of the country’s rich cultural heritage, by giving them an opportunity to view over 7000 artworks, created by more than 100 artists and artisans from across India.

In addition to enlightening travelers about India’s rich cultural history, The GVK Jaya He Art museum also acts a platform for artists from every corner of the country to showcase their proficiency, talent and creativity.

To commemorate International Museum Day, MIAL planned a host of exquisite activities for travelers which included workshops and folk/traditional musical performances for students and travelers.

These activities recited India’s unheard legacies, narratives, historical background and facilitated cultural exchanges amongst travelers transiting through the city.

Previously, the Museum conducted an educational outreach programme by hosting 200 school students, in the 12-14 year age group, from across the city.

The Jaya He Museum was conceptualized as an extension of the uniquely Indian aesthetic of the Terminal 2, where modern technologies blend with traditional knowledge.

The many-layered narrative is a multi-disciplinary exhibition of the various facets of Indian arts and crafts, showcasing the techniques of artisans from different regions of the country.

The various artifacts and installations were curated with the view to distil and interpret the spirit of India, offering visitors a quintessential reception to Mumbai, and India at large.
