Swissôtel Kolkata launches an all-new Asian Street Bar

Kolkata, June 7 : Swissôtel Kolkata recently announced the opening of Wykiki, the first outlet in the city to bring the best of South Asian cuisine under one roof.

The opulent new bar is vibrant in its semi-alfresco setting amidst lush tropical ambience, the lounge offers spectacular panoramic vistas of the city with the perfect ambience to relax and unwind. Wykiki is a lot more than just a restaurant experience; it offers a smart dining experience with a combination of design, ambience, music and gastronomy. The new bar promises to be the grooviest hangout zone in town, located at City Centre II in Kolkata.

With flamboyant illustrations from different street markets across South Asia, Wykiki displays the distinctive décor that promises to combine a vibrant lounge with an outdoor rooftop terrace. This space is designed to provide an experience of a bustling eatery, where one can indulge in spicy food downed with exquisite beverages. The trendy lounge music turns into high energy live DJ as the sun sets and the stars glitter. From the most established in the city to the fashionable millennials, the outlet prides itself in being inclusive and welcoming for all generations ingrained in the value of vitality and sustainability.

Subhrajit Bardhan, General Manager of Swissôtel Kolkata said, “We are excited to bring the latest hotspot in town with Wykiki and aim to provide a first of its kind experience to Kolkata. The concept itself is unique which promises to cater to the needs of the food enthusiasts as well as the party hoppers all under one roof. Additionally, the distinctive décor is always a big part of our concept and with Wykiki, we want to create a setting that embraces gatherings and enhances the overall experience.”

The concept behind this Pan Asian Street Bar beholds the journey of a Chef who travelled across Asia to bring his handpicked choices and soulful taste of authentic Asia. Swissôtel is committed to providing healthy menu options, which incorporates the freshest ingredients and artisanal craft quality of food and beverages.

The specially curated menu is optimised to appeal to the contemporary taste buds. The creative culinary team of Wykiki promises to provide a journey experience of the chaotic Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo to Galangal and Lemongrass scented streets of Penang, the floating markets in Bangkok and Hanoi alleys filled with Pho hawkers.

Commenting on the launch of Wykiki, Ashis Rout Executive Chef, Wykiki, said, “Wykiki is for the glitterati and all those who have been missing the presence of a chic and elegant space with a youthful vibe, soulful music, happening events and sumptuous F&B offerings under the same roof. We intend to keep up the tempo by mixing events, cuisines and music to create an experience perfectly described as ‘The best in Asia’. While remaining faithful to the heritage of South Asian inspired food, we will bring our own straightforward interpretations to the food and drink menus that make them intriguing and yet approachable.”

Culinary excellence and artisan heritage of the brand is reflected in some of the Wykiki dishes including Grandma Yu’s special Bibimbap from the Meong Dong Street Market in Seoul to the Murtabak from Stadium Boulevard of Singapore amongst many others. Wykiki offers live kitchen, exquisite cocktails, dramatic food courses and sensational desserts to provide you with a glimpse of the best from around Asia in Kolkata. This Asian street bar will also be serving Asian inspired cocktails by Wykiki’s in-house master mixologists – a perfect retreat after work for a quiet drink with friends or colleagues.

In addition to this, the outlet is geared to host food and beverage festivals and exclusive sake tasting seminars, soulful musical evenings on a regular basis. The dining experience begins with tapas-style mini eats and fusion cocktails served in an informal setting with the accompaniment of a live DJ from South East Asian nightclubs.
