Colombo, Jun 18 (IBNS): Weeks after the Easter Sunday attack, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) have now issued a statement to say the Sri Lanka is getting back to normalcy, prompting SriLankan Airlines to thank India.
SriLankan Airlines, the National Carrier of Sri Lanka and one of the leading airlines that concts India to the world, expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the Government of India and the state authorities for reviewing the travel advisory.
This will allow SriLankan Airlines to reach to its valued passengers once again to provide seamless worldwide connectivity and an unforgettable travel experience amidst the inherent Sri Lankan warmth and hospitality.
“This is a great news in the backdrop of all the unrest & series of unfortunate events that stuck Sri Lanka in the recent past. At this moment, the island country needs support from all the south Asian countries, especially India to build its tourism sector once again. The relaxation in the travel advisory by MEA will give a big boost to tourism and this well ensure increase in tourist inflow from India to Sri Lanka” said Komal Seth, Director LINKIN Reps. Pvt. Ltd.
Issuing a travel advisory, the MEA had then said: "In view of the prevailing security situation in Sri Lanka in the aftermath of terror attacks on 21 April 2019, Indian nationals intending to travel to Sri Lanka are advised not to undertake non-essential travel."
The Easter suicide bombings, which took place on Apr 21, had left 257 people dead. The incident was condemned across the globe. The Islamic State had claimed responsibility for the blasts.
Sri Lanka's security authorities had either killed or arrested all those responsible for the bombings
