Lufthansa has introduced its new premium onboard service concept, Future Onboard Experience (FOX), across long-haul flights from March 29, marking a major upgrade to its in-flight offering.
The revamped experience, which debuts in First Class, is part of one of the airline’s most extensive investments in onboard service, Lufthansa said.
Developed over two years, the programme draws on insights from more than 110 test flights, along with feedback from over 500 crew members and 9,000 passengers.
“To mark our 100th anniversary, we are redefining onboard service with FOX – in all classes and on all long-haul flights. We are investing more than 70 million euros in our long-haul service and, with it, in the customer experience,” says Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines.
"Our new offering combines outstanding comfort with the highest degree of individuality, creating moments that are truly unique. Every detail of our new onboard experience has been designed with the aim of setting new standards in premium travel – not only in First Class, but in all four travel classes,” Ritter added.

First Class Leads the Upgrade
The new FOX concept brings changes across dining, service flow, and onboard amenities, with First Class passengers being the first to experience the upgrades.
Menus have been redesigned to reflect a lighter, contemporary fine-dining approach, created in collaboration with two-Michelin-starred chef Christoph Kunz.
Known for his restaurant Komu in Munich, Kunz has created a multi-course dining format featuring a curated selection of smaller courses, including “trilogies” for amuse-bouche, starters, and desserts.

For the main course, passengers can choose between a single dish or a tasting menu, adding more flexibility to the dining experience. Updated tableware, an expanded beverage list featuring cocktails, long drinks and mocktails, and a more elaborate breakfast—complete with caviar on request—are also part of the refresh.
Signature Elements Get A Refined Touch
Lufthansa’s signature caviar service continues to be a key highlight, now served with traditional accompaniments such as lemon, egg, shallot and crème fraîche, along with newly added blinis. The presentation has also been updated with mother-of-pearl spoons.
First Class passengers will also see an upgrade in the champagne selection, with the introduction of La Grande Dame, the prestige cuvée from Veuve Clicquot, alongside a rotating range of premium labels.

The onboard amenity experience has also been enhanced through a partnership with BABOR. Travellers can select skincare and cosmetic products based on their preferences via an onboard menu, with items delivered directly to their seats.
Gradual Rollout Across Cabins
While First Class leads the rollout, the FOX concept will gradually extend to other travel classes, bringing updated service elements across Lufthansa’s long-haul network.
