There are several steps to promote a book effectively.
One of the most popular ways being arranging a formal book release event and inviting the media to attend it.
It creates a lot of buzz about the book in print, electronic and online news platforms, generating the necessary curiosity among potential readers.
There is also a recall value of such promotions. When a potential reader is searching on online sites, such as Amazon, Flipkart or Snapdeal, it is possible that he or she would search for the book and order it.
However, authors, who are very creative people, are not necessarily the best organizers or are equipped with the necessary skill to promote their book.
Publishers sometimes invest in book release events for popular authors.
However, new or not so popular authors, or authors writing on a niche subject, may find it difficult to promote their book except on social media platforms.
Not anymore, say Power Publishers, who has recently started book launch service for authors.
Power Publishers said that it will organize everything for the event -- from venue booking to food and beverage, from media invitation to arranging celebrity chief guests, etc.
Usually Power Publishers arranges two to three book release events every month.
Some of its recent bool launch events include 'A Tenant of The World’ at Oxford Bookstore, ‘The Pindari Lover’ at Press Club, ‘Transformation’ at Oxford Bookstore, ‘Millennium Memories’ at Story, ‘Foxy Lady’ at Oxford Bookstore, etc.
Power Publishers said that each of these events have been highly successful, attended by an average of 70 people, including 20 to 30 media journalists.
The list of celebrity chief guests who have agreed to attend Power Publishers' book launches have been rather impressive -- actor Aabir Chaterjee, Aryan and Sujoy Prasad; director Riingo Banerjee, Aniket Chattopadhyay, Subhrajit Mitra and Subhabrata Chatterjee; West Bengal minister Bratya Basu; authors Indranil Sanyal, Binod Ghosal, Smaranjit Chakraborty, Krishnendu Mukhopadhyay, Sourav Mukhopadhyay, Binayak Bandyopadhyay, Himadrikishore Dasgupta, Abhijit Sukul; journalists Boria Majumder, Rittwik Mukherjee, Sujay Dhar, and many more.
A Power Publishers' book launch or book release event organizing package includes venue cost, media coverage and PR, inviting chief guests, seating arrangements for up to 70 guests, refreshments (snacks and beverage) for guests and audience, photographer, projector for displaying a video book trailer, invitation cards, gifts for guests, arranging an anchor for the event, venue decoration and car pick and drop services for the guests.
The book launch event package is priced Rs 60,000.
You need not be published by Power Publishers to avail the service.
Authors who have used the service say it works. Some of the books, such as Millennium Memories by Arindam Basu or A Tenant of the World by Madhura Banerjee went on to become bestsellers
