Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Friday said his government is keen to offer eco-friendly and sustainable tourism which is going to support the fragile ecology of the state.
He said his government is not interested in mass tourism.
“Mizoram is keen to offer eco-friendly and sustainable tourism that respect the fragile ecology of the State and its meager population but not interested in mass tourism," he said while speaking at an event hosted by the Merchants' Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Kolkata.
The Chief Minister said his state needs better roads, railway lines and inland waterways for crucial development for inclusive and sustainable growth of the economy of the state.
He said Mizoram needs meaningful investment from both the Central Government and private players.
"Mizoram is the second-largest producer of bamboo in North Eastern India and second largest producer of strawberries in India. It is a gold mine for researchers seeking out medicinal and aromatic plants," he said.
He referred to his government's 100-day programme when it will try to achieve and implement certain goals.
"2024 will be a year of financial consolidation for Mizoram," he said.
