Pakistan International Airlines lays off 1000 surplus employees

Rawalpindi: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has laid off 1000 surplus employees to reduce its operational costs, media reports said.

The airline has also taken a number of steps to manage the operational costs.

The decision was informed by PIA president and Chief Executive Air Marshal Arshad Malik.

Malik held a meeting with Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, the adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance.

Malik has briefed Sheikh about the different measures taken by the PIA to reduce the operational costs.

Sheikh has also reportedly directed his team in the Finance Ministry to work closely with the PIA management.
