New Delhi: Taking a step further towards strengthening its presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Indian airline IndiGo on Saturday commenced operations to Riyadh.
The airline inaugurated the first direct flight on Delhi-Riyadh route, making Riyadh IndiGo’s 2nd destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after the launch of Jeddah earlier this year.
William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “This is an exciting time for us as we step in the capital of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Riyadh being the commercial and political centre, holds immense potential for trade between the two countries and attracts heavy tourism for its local market place, museums, and heritage sites that signify KSA’s history.
These routes will not only enhance mobility, but also be a significant step towards promoting trade, tourism and social cohesion between the two nations”.
Boulter further added, “IndiGo will continue to expand its network in middle-east to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers. It is our constant endeavour to provide flexibility of choice to our customers as IndiGo continues to offer them on-time, affordable, courteous and hassle-free flying experience always”.

Air India has opened bookings for its first 'Easy Connect' flights under the Government of India's new hub-and-spoke model, allowing international travellers from smaller Indian cities to complete baggage drop and immigration formalities at their departure airport before connecting to overseas destinations through major hubs.
Air India and Riyadh Air have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as they look to strengthen links between their networks and offer travellers more convenient connections between India, Saudi Arabia and destinations beyond.
