Auram, a boutique jewellery brand founded by Bhramar Mallick, which officially made its presence early this year, has been invited by one of the biggest Puja Associations of Kolkata, Ahiritola Yubak Brinda, to make the jewellery for Ma Durga and her family this year.
The theme of the jewellery design for Devi Shakti is Roshnai.
The boutique spokesperson said: "We chose Lotus as it represents our native Bengal and because of purity and spiritual Growth."
"The lotus remains pure and untouched by the mud. It grows in symbolizing how a devotee can remain spiritually pure while living in the material world," the spokesperson said.
"Holding the lotus, Durga drives away fear and offers spiritual liberation to her devotees," the spokesperson said.
The flower's pristine beauty, blooming from the mud, represents enlightenment and spiritual awakening.
The design has been named as Roshnai because of it’s light and colour.
The major ornaments are:
Jorowa Gahana / Joroya Gahana → Jewellery with stone inlay work, often with
colored stones or glass, handed down as family heirlooms.
Tikli: Forehead ornament with red/green stones.
Nath: Nose ring sometimes set with pearls or rubies.
Chur / Bala / Kankan: Bangles, often heavy gold with inset stones.
Chandmala & Hansuli: Neckpieces with crescent or half-moon motifs, stone inlays, and embossed gold work.
Lastly, the jewellery represents Shakti though Shiva.
Shiva: Represents pure consciousness, asceticism, stability, and cosmic
stillness.
Shakti (Durga, Kali, Parvati): Represents energy, creation, fertility,
movement, and dynamism.
Together, Shiva–Shakti embody the balance of masculine and feminine forces in
the universe. On the basis of that we made Motifs.
Trishul (trident): Shiva’s weapon, sometimes stylized into earring or pendant
designs.
Third Eye / Tilak motifs: Forehead ornaments (Tikli/Tikka) often symbolized
divine vision.
Lotus: Shakti’s seat, widely used in pendants and bangles.
Snake motifs: Shiva’s adornment, found in anklets or bracelets.
Rudraksha beads (linked to Shiva’s tears) as malas (necklaces) or in bangles
The entire process of adorning the jewellery on Ma Durga along with Lakkhi, Saraswati, Ganesh and Kartick and Shiva was done as a part of an event which held on Friday at Ahiritola Yubak Brinda.
